WHAT IS YOUR TYPICAL CLIENT LIKE?
We work with individuals, trusts, pension and 401k plans, and corporations. Many of our clients are small business owners, professionals, sales managers, and executives. We also serve retirees, heirs, and other clients.

AM I SAVING ENOUGH FOR RETIREMENT OR KIDS’ COLLEGE EDUCATION?
We provide financial planning and analysis services which will answer these and many other questions you might have. We compile information we ask that you provide us, question you about your specific goals, and provide an analysis report showing accumulation needs and depletion rates, tying this data into conclusions about what action is needed to be taken today.

WILL YOU ALSO REVIEW OTHER AREAS OF MY FINANCES?
Yes. We can look at your insurance coverage, tax planning, small business issues, estate planning and other needs. This can either be incorporated into a comprehensive financial analysis encompassing your accumulation goals and investment positioning, or can be done as separate stand-alone reviews.

WHY ARE YOU FEE-BASED AS OPPOSED TO COMMISSION-BASED?
We believe compensation based on transactions can lead to transactions not necessarily in the best interest of the customer. If our compensation is based on the size of the account, both we and our customers want the same result: better portfolio growth on a risk-adjusted basis. We get a raise only when we do a good job. With regard to our analysis services, charging a fee allows us to be completely objective as we are fairly compensated for our invested time and do not feel the need to “push products” afterwards to get paid. You may take our analysis anywhere you wish for implementation, or do so with us as a separate service.

 WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS?
The firm’s principal, Kirk R. Peterson, CFP®, has a bachelor’s degree from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, as well as a certificate from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, where he studied for a year.

Upon entering the financial services industry Mr. Peterson registered with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) passing the necessary exams to hold both Series 7 and 63 securities licenses. The Series 7 license is the broadest of the general securities licenses which allows offering clients the most comprehensive types of investment vehicles. The Series 63 license allows for servicing out-of-state clients, of which we have several in several different states. In addition, he currently holds state insurance licenses for life, accident and health.

Peterson Financial Services’s fee-only basis of money management does not require current affiliation and license registration with a broker/dealer, thus providing us pure independence. We are registered with, and regulated by the national Securities Exchange Commission, as a Registered Investment Advisor. We are also registered in the states we do business in that require separate registration. Mr. Peterson has completed the Certified Financial Planner course from the College of Financial Planning and holds that designation.

Additionally, Mr. Peterson maintains a Colorado State Insurance License as we do a small amount of insurance business.
